Vale View

Vale View is a layout under construction, and is an O gauge layout in a small space using the power of the latest DCC technology from Digikeijs to enhance viewing pleasure. A fictional scene based on the efforts that it take to prepare a locomotive for a day's work, locomotives can be seen leaving the resting shed early in the morning being fueled with coal and water and sent on their way to work.

The lighting system is able to provide morning, day, evening and night modes and with sound and lighting on locomotives controlled by IPods or a phone this is a really easy layout to run. The layout is in the early stages of build and more and more technology is planned including ambient sounds such as birds singing and people chatting.

Vale View is fully operation all from the front of the layout, so no rear space is required providing a larger viewing area and interaction with the operator.  The layout is made up of 2 4 foot scenic boards and a smaller fiddle yard. Vale View can be assembled and operated by one person with additional controllers offered to viewers if they wish to have a go at operating the layout. The layout sits upon its own frame and legs with storage space for operators tools and belongings including stock storage. a 13amp power supply is required with a 3 pin domestic plug socket.

If you see this layout at exhibition please ask for a demonstration, or better still have a go yourself!

Rosses Point

A 7mm scale Irish terminus with handbuilt track to 36.75mm gauge.  Most of what you see is scratchbuilt, by David Richardson.

Cobra Canyon

Cobra Canyon is a layout belonging to one of our active junior members, Riley Barnes.  He was very fortunate to be gifted the layout at our Tad-Rail exhibition in 2017. The model was built by a life member of our club, John Parkinson from Blaenau Ffestiniog.  John is well known through his many detailed models and for publishing several books on railway modelling. Cobra Canyon was featured in Continental Modeller in the June 2007 issue.

Riley has exhibited Cobra Canyon at our 40th year anniversary exhibition, Vale Rail and at Beacon Rail in 2019. He has been invited to display at RISEX 2021. Pictures to follow.
